Cute Ways to Spoil Your Cat
July 15, 2020

Cats are very good at getting us to pamper them. After all, they convinced the ancient Egyptians to erect huge statues of them! It isn’t hard to please your feline overlord. We all know that good food, proper veterinary care, and clean litterboxes are important. However, if you really want to spoil your pet, read on! Here, a Leonardtown, MD vet lists some adorable ways to keep Fluffy’s motor running.

Playtime

Playing is lots of fun for Fluffy. It’s also very good for her, both mentally and physically. Get into the habit of playing with your cat every day. You may be surprised at how quickly she comes to expect this adorable ritual!

Toys

Nightly play sessions are great, but most of you can’t be at your cat’s beck and call all the time. Offer Fluffy lots of toys to play with by herself when you aren’t around.

Furniture

Cats don’t mind borrowing our sofas, beds, chairs, and laps, but they do enjoy having some things they don’t have to share. Get Fluffy a few good pieces of kitty furniture. Cat towers are great, as they serve multiple ‘purrposes,’ providing a jungle gym, nail care station, lookout point, and, of course, yet another napping spot.

Boxes

Who says cats have expensive taste? Give Fluffy an empty box every now and then. Chances are, she’ll immediately hop right in!

Beds

Kitties certainly do take their beauty rest seriously. Offer Fluffy lots of comfy napping spots to curl up in!

Catio

Do you have a screened porch, sunny den, or bright corner? Turn it into a catio! Set out some pet-safe plants for Fluffy to sniff at and nibble on. (Tip: check the ASPCA site for suggestions.) You can also put soft beds, toys, and furniture on the catio. You get bonus purrs for incorporating a comfy window seat with a good view.

Catnip

No surprises here: Fluffy is super cute when she’s enjoying some catnip. Not all kitties are susceptible to catnip, however. As many as a third are immune to its effects. If your furball isn’t impressed by it, try giving her honeysuckle instead.

Love

Last but not least, make sure Fluffy feels loved. Talk to her, pet her, and let her snooze on your lap. Purrs are truly precious!
