Lynn Fenwick , DVM - Veterinarian/Practice Owner
Although born in Cherry Point, NC; Dr. Fenwick grew up in Leonardtown. She graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in 1979 and then attended Virginia Tech where she received her bachelor’s degree in biology. After just three years of undergraduate study, she was accepted to the Virginia –Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. She received her D.V.M. degree in 1986.
Upon graduation, she married and worked in Roanoke, VA for a year while her husband finished his certification in medical technology. After that they moved to Beckley, WV where she worked for a year in a mixed animal practice before returning and making their home in St. Mary’s County. She worked as an associate veterinarian at St. Mary’s Veterinary Hospital for two years before launching out on her own and opening Breton Veterinary Hospital in 1990.
In addition to preventive care, Dr. Fenwick’s personal practice interests include internal medicine, dentistry and senior care. She is an active member of her church and enjoys spending quality family time with her husband Tim, and two daughters, Kristin and Erin. Outside of her busy family and practice, Dr. Fenwick tries to find time to enjoy her passions of reading, water skiing, snow skiing, running, horseback riding and playing basketball.
Michelle Mitchell, RVT - Registered Veterinary Technician
Michelle joined the Breton Veterinary Hospital team in the summer of 2012, and has been working in veterinary medicine since 2006. She received her Bachelor’s of Science degree in biology from Salisbury University in 2003. She is passionate about surgery and rescue work.
In Michelle’s free time she and her husband Mark enjoy spending time on the Patuxent River on their boat and jet-ski, attending Washington Redskins games, and spending time with family. Their furry children include Cadence a mastiff mix and Crafty a yellow lab mix.
Kim Elliott - Veterinary Technician Assistant
Kim graduated from CSM's Veterinary Assistant program and is looking forward to meeting you and your pet.
Kim was raised in Minnesota on a farm with many different types of animals, all of which she fell in love with. While in the military she was stationed in Patuxent River and decided to stay. She had been working in the food industry for almost 20 years and made the decision to go back to her roots and work with animals.
When not working she spends her time taking care of her 3 cats, Sylvester, Lucky, and Jelly as well as her 2 dogs, Tater and Takota both Lab mixes. She also has a blast caring for Chester Bird the Cockatoo.
Karen Smith - Veterinary Technician
Karen has been a veterinary technician for over 20 years. She started her career with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, in Beltsville, MD, working in the animal parasitology laboratory and outside with cattle. She went on to study wildlife biology at the College of Southern Maryland and has worked for several animal hospitals in the area, including local rescues and shelters. She has extensive experience with all types of animals in the veterinary medical field, from large farm/equines to small, including exotics and wildlife.
When she is not at Breton Veterinary Hospital, she is teaching a variety of sustainable living classes at the College of Southern Maryland. She lives with her family on her farm in Hollywood, where she has a P.R.E mare, a Shetland pony, 2 Corgis, 2 cats, a house rabbit, and 20 chickens. She is an avid classical dressage rider, and artist.
Aubrey Briggs - Veterinary Technician Assistant
After receiving her Veterinary Technicians Assistant certification through
the College of Southern Maryland 2 years ago, Aubrey became part of the BVH team. Her personal pets include Stitches, a German Shepherd, Tater Tot, a toy poodle, and a host of fish in her 55 gallon saltwater tank. When she is not working, she is traveling and showing race cars with her husband and son. Aubrey loves providing exceptional care to our clients, and can't wait to meet your and your pet!
Kathy Plourde-Gallion - Client Relations Specialist
After working as a client relations specialist in the human medical field for 13 years, Kathy is now a part of the Breton Veterinary Hospital team. She has lived with her family in SoMD for over 17 years, and is always excited about meeting clients and their pets. Her goal is to provide the very best care possible to each animal that comes through the door. Her personal pets include Copper, a 9yr old Beagle, Baby, a 3 yr old rescue Beagle, Remy, also a rescue, who is 4 yrs old, and Timmy, her 15 year old water turtle. In the past she has owned ducks, cats, fish, ferrets and a variety of small mammals. She enjoys her family time shopping and traveling when she is not at work.
