Meet the folks who make it all happen. We see big potential in every moment, & care deeply about what we do every day.
Dr. Lynn Fenwick
Owner, Chief Veterinarian
Dr. Fenwick became a veterinarian for three simple reasons: a love of animals, an obsession with learning, and the desire to put her passion for medicine to use helping others. She recalls sitting in the pasture with her horse as a nine-year-old and realizing that she could spend time with animals, keep learning every day, and make a difference by choosing one career path: veterinary medicine. Dr. Fenwick hasn’t looked back since!
Dr. Fenwick was born in Cherry Point, North Carolina, but grew up in Leonardtown. After three years of undergraduate studies at Virginia Tech, she gained acceptance to the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 1986. For the next four years, she worked in various practices before deciding to branch out on her own. Dr. Fenwick founded Breton Animal Hospital in 1990—naming the practice after the Cocker Spaniel she rescued during veterinary school—on none other than Fenwick Street in Leonardtown. Eventually, Dr. Fenwick’s business outgrew the space, and she designed and built her own state-of-the-art facility where the practice currently resides.
Medically, Dr. Fenwick enjoys internal medicine cases and wellness care, and loves making sure that every patient is offered a complete wellness approach that suits their age and lifestyle. She also has advanced dental training, and finds it extremely satisfying to increase the health and quality of life for her patients through good dental work.
Dr. Fenwick and her husband, Tim, are the proud parents of two grown girls: Kristin is a school teacher and Erin currently attends physical therapy school. The couple shares their home with a loveable and lazy Golden Retriever, Pippa, that has helped to fill the void since Dr. Fenwick’s kids moved out. When she isn’t spending quality time with her family or doting on Pippa, Dr. Fenwick enjoys staying active by weight lifting, water-skiing, snow-skiing in the winter, horseback riding, and jogging. She’s even completed three half-marathons, and earned the title of “Titanium Woman” after completing two of those races a week apart!
