Are you accepting new clients?
Yes. We are currently accepting new clients. We are offering a new-client special of 25% off a first nose-to-tail pet exam for eligible new clients. The offer is limited to one pet per household, and it does not include additional services.

Can I request an appointment online?
Yes, you can submit an appointment request through our Request an Appointment form. Please note: submitting the form does not automatically schedule the visit. Emergency and Urgent Care
What signs mean my pet needs veterinary care immediately?
Pets with sudden, severe, or rapidly worsening symptoms may need urgent veterinary attention, and we ask clients with urgent concerns to call us rather than submit an online appointment request.
Seek urgent veterinary care if your pet experiences:
- Collapse, fainting, or an inability to stand
- Seizures or severe disorientation
- Uncontrolled bleeding or a significant wound
- Suspected poisoning or ingestion of a harmful substance
- A serious fall, vehicle accident, bite, or other trauma
- Severe or persistent pain
- Repeated vomiting or diarrhea accompanied by weakness or other concerning signs
- A swollen or painful abdomen
- Straining or inability to urinate
- Sudden loss of coordination or difficulty walking

What veterinary services does Breton Veterinary Hospital offer?
We provide a broad range of veterinary services for dogs and cats. These options include wellness and vaccinations, allergies and dermatology, nutrition and weight management, behavioral counseling, diagnostics, radiology and imaging, dentistry, surgery, laser therapy, and boarding. Do pets need professional dental care?
Yes. Professional veterinary dentistry can help identify and treat dental disease before it becomes painful or dangerous. Signs of dental disease can include bad breath, excessive drooling, dropping food, reduced interest in chew toys, appetite changes, facial swelling or pain, pawing at the mouth, damaged or missing teeth, and red, swollen, or bleeding gums.

How can laser therapy help my pet?
Laser Therapy is a non-invasive treatment that can help manage pain and inflammation while promoting tissue healing. We may use it for a variety of conditions, such as arthritis, disc disease, hip dysplasia, degenerative joint disease, sprains and strains, cranial cruciate ligament problems, dental problems, chronic pain and inflammation, dermatological conditions, and lick granulomas.
What types of veterinary surgery do you perform?
We perform a variety of surgical procedures for dogs and cats, including spay and neuter procedures, soft-tissue surgery, and other general surgical procedures. Our Veterinary Surgery services include preoperative evaluation, anesthesia and monitoring, pain management, and postoperative care.
We also use a CO2 surgical laser for certain procedures. This can help reduce tissue trauma, bleeding, swelling, and discomfort during recovery. Except for spay/neuter surgery, which is standard, we perform surgical procedures on a case-by-case basis. Our veterinarians will determine the appropriate surgical approach after thoroughly evaluating your pet, their health concerns, and their needs.
What experience and training does your veterinary team have?
Our veterinary team brings experience in preventive medicine, internal medicine, wellness care, dentistry, surgery, and other areas of companion-animal medicine. Dr. Lynn Fenwick, owner and chief veterinarian, graduated from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 1986 and founded Breton Animal Hospital in 1990. She has a special interest in internal medicine and wellness care, and also has advanced dental training.

Can you help with behavioral concerns?
Yes. We provide Behavioral Counseling for dogs and cats that struggle with anxiety, aggression, or other issues. Guidance is always based on your pet’s individual circumstances and temperament.
Behavior changes can sometimes have a medical cause, so we also consider your pet’s overall health when evaluating a behavioral concern. We understand that behavior problems can be frustrating for families, and a thoughtful evaluation can help determine appropriate next steps.
Does Breton Veterinary Hospital offer boarding?
Yes, we provide full-service boarding for dogs and cats in Leonardtown, MD. We provide individual housing, regular exercise, daily cleaning, fresh water, and clean bedding. Our pet boarding facility has a separate area for cats. We can also administer medication and care for pets with special needs during their stay.

You can submit an online medication request through our website. We review your pet’s records before processing the request. Please allow up to two business days for us to review, fill, and prepare your pickup request.
Our Request A Refill form lets you provide your pet’s information and requested product details. All medication requests must be reviewed and authorized by a veterinarian.

We accept cash, checks, and major credit and debit cards, and we also offer CareCredit for qualifying clients. Our Payment Options information provides current payment policies and financing details.
We request an exam-fee deposit when appointments are booked, which we apply to the scheduled visit. Appointment cancellations or changes made more than 24 hours in advance are eligible for a full refund of that deposit.
